How eLearning can be used to provide efficient training for a global PDM introduction even in times of great planning uncertainty.
Intelliact worked with HUBER+SUHNER to develop a global training concept that would prepare their employees for a new PDM system within three months. Due to the COVID19-related limited travel conditions, the goal was to conduct the training digitally via an e-learning platform. Creative online training methods and a modular structure of the content enabled an efficient training for almost 1,000 employees.
Already at the concept stage, the challenge was to define the integration of different ways of working of different divisions with different products and technologies in a central global PDM system. This diversity includes not only the entire product lifecycle, but also the corporate culture and the language of the employees. In addition, because of the travel ban and restrictions due to the pandemic, a mix of virtual "self-training at home" and adequate face-to-face training communication was needed to ensure learning feedback.
Intelliact supported HUBER+SUHNER in the development of the PDM concept and managed the entire "training" from concept design to implementation and execution. The training consisted of two parts and allowed the employees to complete a "self-training" and a "training by the trainer".
During the first part, the so-called "self-training", videos on the e-learning platform showed training presentations as well as operating instructions in the system. In the training system, the employees were able to assume their future user role and consolidate what they had learned.
In the second part, "training by the trainer", a regional trainer conducted webinars and Q&A sessions online. This personal and constructive training was important in order to continue to accompany the employees in case of questions.
The PDM concept, training material and infrastructure for global PDM training integrated different approaches for HUBER+SUHNER:
